Oliver Clare (1853–1927) was a highly skilled British Victorian still-life painter best known for his exquisitely detailed depictions of fruit, flowers and natural arrangements. Born in Birmingham, he was the son of the celebrated still-life artist George Clare and the brother of fellow painter Vincent Clare, forming part of one of the most respected artistic families of the Victorian period.

Clare developed a reputation for exceptional precision and delicacy in his work. His compositions often feature richly coloured fruit and floral arrangements set against naturalistic backgrounds such as mossy banks, woodland floors and hedgerow settings. Subtle details — including the bloom on grapes, soft reflections on fruit skins and dewdrops on petals — demonstrate his remarkable observational skill and technical control.

Throughout his career, Clare worked primarily in Birmingham, with periods spent in London and approximately four years in the United States. He exhibited widely during his lifetime, including at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, and Manchester City Art Gallery.
