Meet Mark Lambert, owner and director of Lambert Fine Art

I’ve been surrounded by art for as long as I can remember. My mum was an art teacher, and our home was always filled with paints, clay, and materials to play with so it’s safe to say I grew up with a paintbrush in one hand and curiosity in the other. I went on to study Fine Art at degree level, focusing on painting, but life has a funny way of redirecting you. While working in a hotel, I met an art dealer who changed everything for me. I ended up working with him for 17 years, learning the tricks of the trade and discovering just how magical it is to connect people with art.

Today, I run Lambert Fine Art here in Stratford-upon-Avon. Using my two decades of experience, I’ve built the gallery into a trusted destination for collectors, interior designers, and museums seeking high-quality original paintings and sculptures. Our collection spans the 19th to the 21st century, featuring artists like Andy Warhol, L.S. Lowry, Sir Alfred Munnings, and many other British Royal Academy artists.

If I’m honest, my favourite style has always been landscapes and seascape paintings that transport you somewhere else, that make you feel you could step into the scene and wander for a while. That said, I also love helping contemporary artists break into the market, showing them how to create a pathway for themselves and connect with collectors who will appreciate their work.

I’ve been lucky enough to handle works by Picasso, Lowry, Andy Warhol, Edgar Degas, Monet, and more. My biggest sale remains confidential, but let’s just say the price was comfortably in the millions.

When people come into the gallery, there’s one thing I always tell them: buy with your heart. I can give you all the details on price, quality, rarity, and whether it’s a strong example of the artist’s work but ultimately, the question is: do you love it? Do you have to have it? If the answer is yes, then it’s the right piece for you.

I offer a full range of services, from sourcing and buying to selling and restoring fine art. But above all, my goal is to help each client find pieces that resonate with them personally, and to guide them through the world of fine art with expertise, passion, and a little bit of enthusiasm.
