Vernon Beauvoir Ward (1905–1985) was a distinguished 20th-century English painter celebrated for floral paintings, bird studies and nostalgic Edwardian scenes. At Lambert Fine Art, collectors can discover works by this highly regarded British artist.
Based for much of his life in Hampstead, Vernon Ward became known for combining fine art skill with wide popular appeal. A member of the New Society of Artists and associate of the Royal Society of British Artists, he also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
Ward’s paintings of birds, flowers and romantic English subjects found enormous success both in galleries and commercial publishing, with reproductions widely collected as prints, greeting cards and puzzles. During the Second World War he contributed to wartime projects including a design for a naval war memorial commissioned by the Borough of Twickenham.
Occasionally working under the pseudonym Bertram Linder, Vernon Ward remains admired by collectors of traditional British painting for his craftsmanship, charm and enduring appeal.
