Roxy Winterburn is a versatile Yorkshire artist, chemist and animal conservation enthusiast whose diverse background in art, science and the natural world has shaped a distinctive approach to contemporary sculpture. Bringing these three passions together, Roxy has developed a unique identity as an expressive and highly detailed British sculptor, creating original bronze sculptures inspired by animals, wildlife and the world around her.
Roxy’s work combines stylised form with a strong sense of character. Rather than simply reproducing an animal as a realistic replica, she explores its defining qualities through shape, movement and expression.
“I like stylised art. A piece doesn’t necessarily have to be a realistic representation of a subject; it is what it is, and I want that to come through in my work. For example, I have created my pieces so you can recognise the animals, but they don’t have to be an exact replica of the real thing.”
