Carl Johansson is a Swedish artist perhaps most influenced by the famous French Impressionists. He arrived in Paris in 1891 and was captivated by the masters Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro. After this period his palette becomes more sparkling and often with elements of violet. His works show a great feeling for depicting the movement and reflection of water and the motifs of nature. During his life, Carl Johansson’s landscape painting reached an audience far beyond Sweden’s borders. His work was shown at the World’s Fair in Paris in 1889, the anniversary exhibition in Buenos Aires in 1910 and in San Francisco in 1916.
