Originally from India Srinjoy Gangopadhyay was born into a family of artists and knew from a very young age that he, too was born to be an artist. Throughout his life, he has traveled the world, worked in the design and animation industry and has professionally worked under the tutelage of many renowned modern, street, and pop artists.
Srinjoy earned his Master’s of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta, GA, in 2015. While at SCAD, he was awarded the prestigious juried residency at the Elizabeth Foundation of Arts in New York. His beautiful artworks have been exhibited at major galleries and exhibitions globally, and he has, in significant art industry publications, including Art Radar Journal, Sharks Eat Meat, and the Zeal Life.
The central overarching pursuit of his work is examining the theme of ‘Utopia’ in a contemporary context through map and model making with his influences ranging from Pop culture to Deep Ecology. His works, at times, holds a mirror to reflect the contemporary experience, or it can completely take the viewer to an alternative world. Srinjoy’s work also consists of re-imagining Utopian pasts or imagining alternative realms.
