Biography

Born in the heart of the potteries Staffordshire in 1972. Neil is an outstanding figurative bronze sculptor much respected in his chosen field. Neil considers himself self taught and he started early as a child making his own Jim Henson Muppets and monster masks in his bedroom to put on shows for his friends.  At 16 he gained a two year apprenticeship at the New Victoria theatre as a stage set and props designer where he discovered a love of sculpture which has never left him. Neil then spent 7 years as an “in house” sculptor for Wedgwood. He is now considered a Master sculptor in a career spanning over 28 years.

The curves of the human form are overwhelmingly complex and Neil’s extraordinary talent for capturing the fleeting gestures and mood in his sculptures coupled with an acute understanding of anatomy are what make his work unique. This has seen him receive many Commissions including many commemorative Royal Portraits for the world famous Royal Doulton including her majesty the Queen, The Prince of Wales and William and Kate for the royal wedding in 2011. Most recently  completing a large scale duke of Wellington on horseback for the anniversary of the battle of Waterloo in (2017). Commission also include the cast of Downton Abbey in costume for ITV in 2016 and the Wedgwood Prestige basalt Jasper collections for Harrods. Neil’s work is on permanent display at the Wedgwood Museum.

Each artwork is a labour of love and Neil personally overseas every sculpture and unique patination working closely with the foundry to produce the best possible finishes. His bronze editions sell out quickly and his work has become very sought after in recent years. He is simply one of a very few rare talents capable of making sculpture to this degree of fine art today. His trademark being his exquisitely beautiful, angelic faces which give his work an other worldly dream like quality.

As Neil says “ I strive to capture the beauty of body and soul in all it’s subtlety and to produce work that represents my best endeaver ”. “Being an artist is a journey, you never stop learning and my work and influences are always in a state of flux. I never know where they will take me next….”

Previous shows Shows include  AAF London , Priory gallery, Broadway Worcestershire, Imagine Gallery Suffolk, The Wedgwood Museum, Harrods, Las Vegas. Locog 2012 Olympic games.
