Leigh Lambert is a British contemporary artist best known for his nostalgic depictions of childhood life in Northern England. Born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1979, Lambert showed artistic talent from an early age and developed his distinctive style largely through self-teaching. After moving to Warwickshire with his family in 1996, he began drawing inspiration from memories of his upbringing, transforming everyday scenes into evocative works that celebrate community, family, and the joy of youth.
Working primarily in oil, watercolour, and pencil, Lambert’s signature style combines detailed monochrome streetscapes with carefully placed bursts of colour, drawing attention to children at play and creating a powerful sense of nostalgia. His paintings often reflect stories from his own childhood, as well as those shared by his parents and grandparents, resonating with collectors across the UK and beyond.
Lambert’s work has gained widespread recognition for its emotional warmth and storytelling. In 2014, he was shortlisted for Best Up and Coming Artist at the Fine Art Trade Guild Awards, and his original paintings and limited-edition releases regularly sell out, attracting a loyal and growing following. Today, he continues to create from his studio, producing highly sought-after artworks that capture the timeless spirit of Britain’s past.
