Artwork Description

This remarkable collection explores dreamlike landscapes, a playful new direction within Francesca’s work. Francesca Currie landscapes  provoke a pacific ambience, gifting an escape for the viewer. Francesca truly is an awe provoking artist, with her latest collection encapsulating a eureka moment. Her body of work possesses a rich understanding of art, articulated in beautiful brushstrokes.

These abstracted landscapes capture everyday beauty and evoke a sense of calm, embodying hope in an ever-changing world. Each piece is based on a real place. Through expressive brushstrokes and softened edges, Francesca strives to create scenes that feel both slight in distance and dream-like, yet they also provide a sense of familiarity. The use of a traditional palette interplays with the contrast of these landscapes, light and dark intertwine to convey atmospheric environments.

In our natural world, there is beauty in everyday moments, whether it’s a dewy dawn, glistering light dancing across a lake, or the early morning mist rapidly conquering the fields. These moments we miss and lose time to appreciate were the focal point of this project’s composition. The abstracted artworks pushed Francesca to steer away from a few traditional ideas. Ideas in which she applies to her portraits and still life’s that have been viewed across Birmingham and London. Rather, this large-scale collection encouraged a more physical approach. This physicality creates an energy in the painting evoking a playfulness which is freeing to view.
